Men’s Tennis to Face Gwynedd Mercy in CSAC Semifinal

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team, the No. 4 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) postseason, will face No. 1 seeded Gwynedd Mercy University in a semifinal match-up on Friday.
 
The tournament will be held at the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center in Philadelphia, Pa. The match between the Knights and Griffins will be the first match of the day. The second match will be between No. 2 seeded Summit and No. 3 seeded Marywood.
 
The Knights went 4-3 in conference action in the regular season. Neumann fell to Gwynedd Mercy 9-0 in its meeting on April 15. In that match, Zac Lazzaro and Shane Galante battled in doubles, but fell 8-4. In fifth singles, Andrew Wilbraham lost his first set 6-2, won the second set 6-2, but dropped the tie-breaker 14-12.
 
In the regular season, Jordan Collins went 3-3 at sixth singles and Wilbraham went 4-4 at fifth singles. In doubles action, Lazzaro and Galante went 2-2 at second doubles and Wilbraham and Collins went 2-1 at third doubles.   
 
Trevor Hoopes was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship team, announced with the end-of-season awards by the conference.
 
The Knights have advanced to the title match each of the past two seasons and captured the championship in 2014. The Knights clinched the final spot in the team tournament with a 6-3 win over Cabrini College Tuesday.
 
No. 2 Summit University and No. 3 Marywood University will face off in the second semifinal match on Friday at 12:00 PM. The two winners will vie for the title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament Saturday at 2:30 PM.
