EWING, N.J. – The Neumann University softball team dropped its first game of the NCAA Regional 9-0 in five innings to No. 19 Manhattanville College on Friday morning on the campus of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).
Manhattanville took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning. The Valiants then hit a grand slam in the second inning as they took an 8-0 lead after two innings. Manhattanville added an unearned run in the third for a 9-0 score.
Lauren Wilkie started the game and went 3.0 innings. She allowed nine runs, eight earned, on seven hits.
Haley Broomell pitched the fourth inning and allowed one hit.
Neumann (26-15) will face either TCNJ or Staten Island tomorrow in an elimination game. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 PM, weather depending.
