The Neumann University Men's Rugby Club returned from their bye week to face undefeated Bucknell University.
Neumann entered the contest after two consecutive losses, while the Bison were the reigning back-to-back league champions. Courtesy of a stingy defense and an aggressive attack, the homecoming crowd watched the Knights defeat Bucknell, 38-22.
Santino D'Angelo opened the scoring at the six-minute mark with the first of his two first-half trys. Nick Fallows notched the other and Pierre Thibert slotted two of his four conversions for a 19-5 lead at the half.
The hosts continued to find the scoreboard, as Ricky Connelly and Gaetano Quintiliani added trys for a 31-10 advantage. Bucknell closed within 31-22 with 10 minutes remaining, but Mike Raymond iced the match with a try at 35-minute mark.
AJ Dellemonache and Liam Ruddy led a committed defense that disrupted the Bucknell attack throughout the day.
Neumann will next hit the road for a matchup with their cross-town rival, Widener University, on Saturday, October 21. Kick-off is slated for 10:00am.
