ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team picked up its second straight shutout with an 8-0 win over Clarks Summit University on Tuesday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up.
Morgan Ryan and
Shannon Martina each found the back of the net twice in the game.
Brittany Cullison started the game in net and did not face a shot.
Kristen Montgomery made three saves in net over 58 minutes.
When the Knights found the back of the net for the first time in the 14
th minute, it became a flurry of goals as they scored five goals over the next five minutes. Martina opened the scoring off a pass from
Anna Attardi. Fifteen seconds later, Martina found
Grace Stauffer for a 2-0 lead. From the 18:10 mark to the 19:31 mark, Neumann scored three more times with two goals from Ryan and another by
Danni Elman.
Britany Stewart and
Micaela Miller tallied assists.
Tina Tarantino and
Ashley Francis scored before then end of the half on unassisted goals and Neumann held a 7-0 lead at the break. Just 35 seconds into the second half, Martina scored her second goal of the game.
The Knights outshot the Defenders 24-3 overall and 14-3 on net.
Neumann (6-6-1, 5-3-1 CSAC) will host Marywood on Saturday in the final home game of the regular season. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
