Women's Soccer Wins in Regular Season Finale

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Neumann University women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season portion of its schedule with a convincing 4-0 victory over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Danni Elman was the difference maker on the day for the Knights, picking up a pair of goals in the win. Shannon Martina and Grace Stauffer also scored for Neumann, who received eight saves from goalie Kristen Montgomery.

The Knights controlled play from the first whistle, playing in the Gators end for a majority of the opening half. Martina started the scoring in the 14th minute, depositing a ball into the back of the net off of a failed clear to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. Elman took over from there, scoring a pair of goals just 32 seconds apart midway through the period to give Neumann a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half.

Neumann continued to press forward in the second half, capping off the scoring with a Stauffer goal in the 83rd minute to seal the 4-0 win. Shots for the game finished 17-15 in favor of the Knights.

With the win, Neumann (7-8-1, 6-4-1 CSAC) will await results from other games around the conference to determine its postseason opponent. The Knights have clinched a playoff spot as either the fifth or sixth seed in the CSAC playoffs and will hit the road next Monday, October 30th for a first round playoff game. Please check back later for more details on the team's opponent and game-time.
