Men’s Soccer Heads to Cabrini for a CSAC Semifinal Contest

ASTON, Pa.- The Neumann University men's soccer team advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinals with a 2-1 win over Marywood in a first round game on Tuesday.   
 
Daniel Rival scored both goals in the win, with the game-winner coming with just 33.3 seconds left on the clock. The sophomore put Neumann up 1-0 in the 13th minute. The Pacers tied the game with under five minutes left in regulation. Rival kept the game from going into overtime with his second goal of the game. Perry Corsetti made seven saves in net for the win. With the win, the Knights will head to No. 1 seeded Cabrini University on Thursday for semifinal action.
 
During the regular season, the Cavaliers took the game 2-1. Billy Swontek scored for the Knights. Neumann will look to avenge the regular season loss for a chance to play for the CSAC Championship.
 
The Knights are led by senior Jake McDevitt, who has scored 10 goals while adding three assists this season. Christian Cortese has added three goals and three assists. Brady Simon, Swontek, Jack Norwood and now Rival have all contributed multiple goals for the Knights.
 
Defensively, the Knights lead the CSAC with a goals-against-average of 1.16. The Knights also led the conference with a total of seven shutouts. Ian Hunter, Mitchel Yeakley, Norwood, Tyler Williams, Rod Bradbury, and Swontek have all contributed to the defensive success and will look to carry it into the playoffs. Perry Corsetti has locked it down in net for the Knights finishing with a 1.22 goals-against-average and a .756 save percentage.
 
The other semifinal game will feature No. 2 Keystone hosting No. 3 Centenary. The winners will face-off on Saturday for the Championship at the highest remaining seed.
