Men's Soccer Falls in ECAC First Round

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the team fell to host Arcadia University in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament by a score of 3-1.

Jon Cobb scored the lone goal of the match for the Knights, who received three saves on the afternoon from the tandem of Perry Corsetti and Danny Lewis.
Neumann started strong, controlling possession in the game's opening minutes and generating the first two shots of the game. Midway through the half though, the early momentum faded and Arcadia began to take control of the match. The hosts tallied twice in a minute and half span to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Shots in the first half were 9-5 in favor of Arcadia.

Much like the first half, Neumann came out of the gates on fire in the first several minutes of the second stanza. The Knights registered the first five shots of the half and cut the lead to one on Cobb's second goal of the season in the 50th minute. Neumann continued to press forward for an equalizer and were nearly rewarded with one just four minutes later when Jake McDevitt's long range shot rang off the crossbar.

Despite its early second half dominance, Neumann could not find a way to get the game tied and Arcadia responded with a goal on a counter attack with just 22 minutes left in regulation. The Knights fought valiantly to get back into the game, but the score-line would hold at 3-1 in favor of Arcadia.

Neumann finishes its season with a record of 8-9-1. The Knights earned their first post-season berth since 2014 and will look to build on that as the team moves into the 2018 season.
