CLERMONT, Fla. – The Neumann University softball team dropped its first two games of the 2017 season on Monday. The Knights fell in a close 1-0 game to Capital and then 5-2 against Hanover.
In the loss to Hanover,
Haley Broomell was stellar in the circle, allowing just one unearned run on one hit in 6.2 innings while striking out nine.
Grace Sperrazza tallied her first two collegiate hits.
In game two, the Knights plated two runs in the sixth inning on a two-run shot by
Becky Guinto. Neumann threatened to score in the first as it loaded the bases on a hit and two walks with one out, but the Knights could not put the ball in play for another run.
Jen Sieminski got her first collegiate start in the circle. She allowed four runs on four hits in 4.0 innings.
Michaela Pembleton went 3.0 innings and allowed one run on six hits.
Neumann (0-2) will face Johnson & Wales tomorrow for a pair of games beginning at 9:00 AM.
