ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team opened Colonial States Athletics Conference (CSAC) action with a pair of wins over Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 10-0 and 12-4.
In game one,
Jackie Schneider went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBI.
Autumn Passarello had three hits and scored two runs.
Haley Broomell picked up her first win of the season, striking out 10 and allowing just one hit and walked one batter in the complete game. The senior retired the final 10 batter of the game.
The Knights got on the board in the third inning as Passarello knocked in
Kristina Del Gaiso. Schneider then hit a homerun to center field to bring home Passarello and give Neumann a 3-0 lead.
Schneider hit her second homerun of the game in the fifth innings, this time bringing home Passarello and
Becky Guinto. Neumann added four runs in the top of the sixth en route to the 10-0 final.
In game two,
Kate Korte' had four RBI. Guinto went 4-for-4, knocked in three runs and scored two.
Jen Sieminski started the game and went 4.0 innings for the win. She allowed one run on two hits and struck out six.
Michaela Pembleton pitched the fifth inning.
Grace Sperrazza opened the game with a double and came around to score on a single by Guinto. Neumann scored at least one run in each inning and plated five in the fifth. Guinto knocked a two-run single in the inning.
Neumann (5-7, 2-0 CSAC) will host Stockton on Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
