Men's Tennis Takes Down Defenders

4/1/2017 6:09:00 PM

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team claimed its first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 5-4 win on the road versus Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Clarks Summit University.

Daniel Rival carried the Knights in the win, picking up wins at both first singles (6-1, 6-1) and at first doubles (9-7) with partner Rod Bradbury. The freshman has now won three consecutive matches at first singles after falling in his opening match of the season.

After falling behind 2-1 early on in doubles, the match would hinge on Neumann's play in singles. Needing a minimum of four wins in singles to win the match, the Knights got just that. Rival, Zac Lazarro (second singles), Jordan Collins (fourth singles) and Shane Galante (fifth singles) were all victorious in their matches as Neumann picked up its first win of the season in an important CSAC matchup.

Neumann (1-3, 1-1 CSAC) returns to action on Monday, April 3rd with another conference matchup versus Rosemont College. The home match is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM.
