IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end in heartbreaking fashion, falling to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Immaculata University in overtime by a score of 14-13 on Wednesday evening.

Adam Fagan and
Chase Fraser (14 ground balls) all registered three goals apiece for Neumann on the night, while

Neumann would fall into an early hole in the opening period of play, giving up five first quarter goals to fall behind by a score of 5-1. Fagan had the Knights lone tally of first frame off a feed from
Tylar Schlimme.
The Knights would rebound early in the second, as a pair of Augustine goals in the first three minutes of the quarter got Neumann back to within two at 5-3. Unfortunately for the Knights though, the Mighty Macs would tally four of the next five goals in the frame to regain their five goal cushion at 9-4 heading to halftime.
Despite the five goal deficit, Neumann came out of halftime buzzing. Using the resilience and heart they have shown all season, the Knights began to battle their way back into the game in the third quarter. Fraser scored 17 seconds into the period to get the rally started and four different Knights would follow suit in the next five minutes of play, as the Knights fought back to tie the game at the 9:28 mark of the quarter.
James Thompson, Fagan, Plesati and
Ryan Lee all scored for Neumann in the five minute stretch. The Knights were not done there though, as Fraser put an exclamation point on the quarter by tallying his third goal of the game and 66
th of the season to send Neumann to the fourth quarter with a 10-9 lead.
The final period of play would be a back and forth battle that continued to show Neumann's poise and competitive spirit. Immaculata notched the first two goals of the quarter to nudge its way back in front at the 11:01 mark, but the Knights would answer right back as Fagan scored just 29 seconds later to knot the game back up 11-11. The Mighty Macs would take the lead two more times in the quarter, but Neumann would not quit. Each time Immaculata took a lead, the Knights responded with an equalizing goal. Augustine's third goal of the game at the 3:04 mark tied the game up at 13-13 and the game would head to overtime.
In the extra session, Neumann would fall just short. The Knights had two chances to win the game early in overtime, but a Fagan shot went wide and a Plesati shot was saved. The Mighty Macs would capitalize quickly after Neumann's near misses. Immaculata scored on its first shot of the extra session to walk away with the 14-13 win.
Neumann (6-9, 3-4 CSAC) finishes its season just shy of the CSAC playoffs. After an amazing season that saw the team take tremendous leaps forward, the Knights will look to continue to improve next year and take the next step into the playoffs.
