Knights Wrap Up Regular Season with a Pair of Wins

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team wrapped up the regular season with a pair of wins over Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.  Game scores were 5-3 and 4-3.
 
In the first game the Cavaliers got on the board first with a three-run homerun in the second inning. The Knights got two runs back in the third inning as Jackie Schneider doubled in a pair. Neumann tied the game at three as Marisa Giordano hit an RBI single to score Kara Grogan.
 
Grogan put the Knights in the lead with a two-run single in the fifth inning. Haley Broomell pitched her sixth win of the season, going 7.0 innings. She allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five.
 
Cabrini struck first in the second game as well, going up 1-0 in the first inning. Grogan hit a shot to left field with Julia Cox at first base to put Neumann up 2-1. The Cavalier tied the game at two in the top of the third.
 
The Knights strung together some base hits and fielder's choices in the fourth inning and took a 4-2 advantage. Grace Sperrazza singled in Grogan. Giordano hit into a fielder's choice and Kate Korte' came home to score.
 
Cabrini got to within one in the fifth inning. Jen Sieminski was able to buckle down and get her eighth win of the season as the Cavaliers stranded runners on the corners in the top of the seventh.
 
Sieminski allowed three runs on eight hits, two earned, over the 7.0 innings.
 
Neumann finishes the regular season 25-13 overall and 19-3 in the conference. The Knights will be the No. 2 seed in the CSAC playoffs, which will begin next week.
