HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Neumann University women's soccer team fell in its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener on the road at Centenary University by a score of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Jamie King scored the Knights lone goal on the day.
Brittany Cullison and
Kristen Montgomery combined for seven saves in goal in the loss.
Despite a somewhat evenly played first half statistically, the Knights found themselves down 3-0 early in the match. The Cyclones set the tone by scoring just 1:51 into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Neumann tried to answer back with a few chances of their own, but could not get on the scoresheet in the opening half. Centenary would tack on two goals midway through the first frame and would head to halftime up 3-0.
The second half began much like the first, as the Cyclones tallied at the 61:16 mark to go up 4-0. The Knights answered back with a free kick goal from King just ten minutes later, but Centenary added two late goals to take home the 6-1 win.
Neumann (1-3) is back in action next Wednesday, September 20th when it heads to CSAC rival Cabrini University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
