NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Neumann University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup on the road at Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1.
Anna Attardi scored the Knights lone goal of the contest off an assist from
Taylor Garman.
Brittany Cullison was solid in net, making eight saves in the loss.
Mount Saint Mary would get off to a quick start, jumping out to an early 1-0 lead just 7:50 into the game off a header on a free kick. The remainder of the half would be played evenly, but the hosts would find a second goal in the 32nd minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Neumann's hopes for a second half comeback took a big hit just 1:38 after halftime, as Mount Saint Mary scored again to take a 3-0 lead. Despite the deficit, Neumann fought hard to get back into the game and the team was rewarded with a goal from Attardi in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the team would get as Mount Saint Mary held on to the 3-1 win.
Neumann (1-4-1) is back on the field next Wednesday, September 27th when it plays host to conference rival Immaculata University. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
