ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team fell to Immaculata University in the first round of the Atlantic East Conference playoffs, 3-2, on Monday evening in double overtime.
Taylor Garman opened the scoring in a back and forth game with a goal off a free kick just outside the 18 in the 24
th minute. The Knights held the lead and took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Mighty Macs answered five minutes into the second half to tie the game at one. In the 57
th minute,
Kaitlin Thomas put a shot into the back of the net to take back the lead, 2-1. As the back and forth continued, Immaculata responded again to tie the game at two in the 74
th minute.
After battling to a scoreless first overtime, it was Immaculata who was able to take the win with a goal in the 105
th minute.
The Knights outshot the Mighty Macs 18-17 overall, and 11-8 on goal.
Anna Attardi made five saves in net for Neumann.
Neumann (8-8-1) will now wait for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament announcement on Monday to see if its season will continue.
