ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's soccer team finished Atlantic East Conference regular season play 3-2-1 and will be the No. 3 seed in postseason play.
The Knights will host No. 6 seed Immaculata University in the first round on Monday, October 29. The game will take place on the turf field, following the field hockey round one game, at 7:00 PM.
In the regular season, the Knights and Mighty Macs had a long hard-fought game that ended in a 2-1 victory for Neumann in double overtime.
Kaitlin Thomas and
Belle Hughes scored for the Knights in the win. Hughes tallied the game-winner off a corner kick from
Carissa Britton.
Overall this season season, Thomas leads the team with 15 goals, breaking the record for most goals in a season. Thomas also leads with four game winning goals.
Danni Elman follows Thomas with eight goals, and Britton leads the team with ten assists.
Anna Attardi has started and played in 14 regular season contests and has a goals-against-average of a 1.47. Attardi has made 57 saves in goal.
The other first round game will feature No. 4 Marywood hosting No. 5 Marymount. The winners will advance to semifinals on Wednesday. No. 1 seed, Cabrini, will host the lowest remaining seed, and the other will travel to face the No. 2 seed, Wesley. Winners of the semifinal contests will advance to the first Atlantic East Conference Championship on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
