ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team won its Neumann Tip-Off Tournament with a 69-66 win over Western New England University in the championship game on Sunday afternoon.
 
Minika Glenn tallied 23 points and eight rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament team. Nafisa Saunders netted 13 points and dished out six assists and was named the tournament MVP.
 
Mariah Maciejewski notched a double-double in the win with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
 
The teams went back and forth over the first five minutes of the game and were knotted at eight. The Golden Bears ended the quarter with an 11-3 run to take a 19-11 lead at the first break.
 
Western New England held the lead for most of the second quarter, with the biggest advantage at 10 points, 27-17. Neumann started to chip its way into the deficit and with 1:15 left before halftime tied the game at 33. Saunders hit a layup to give the Knights a 35-31 lead. Just before the break, Glenn hit a three pointer and the Knights took a 38-34 lead into halftime.
 
The Golden Bears scored the first six points in the third quarter. The teams remained within five points of one another and the Knights took a 53-51 lead into the final 10 minutes.
 
The game was knotted at 62 midway through the final quarter when the teams went on a scoreless drought. Glenn hit a layup with 1:20 left on the clock to break the tie. Maciejewski followed with a jumper with 30 seconds remaining for a 66-62 advantage. Glenn hit three-of-four free throws down the stretch to seal the win for the Knights.
 
Neumann (4-0) will hit the road for the first time this season when it travels to Widener on Tuesday evening. Tip-Off is slated for 6:00 PM.
