ASTON, Pa. – The No. 1 seeded Neumann University men's soccer team will host No. 2 seeded Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon in the first Atlantic East Championship game. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
The Knights went 5-0-1 in conference action to earn the No. 1 seed in the postseason. The Cavaliers earned the No. 2 seed by going 5-1 in Atlantic East action.
During the regular season meeting between the teams, Neumann came away with a 1-0 win.
Steven Matalavage scored for the Knights in the 75
th minute off an assist from
Nick Testa.
Shane Smith made four saves for the shutout win.
On the season, the Knights are led by
Marlon Trejo and
Gavin Ford, who have both scored six goals so far this season. Testa has added four goals. Four of Trejo's goals have been game-winners. He gone 5-for-5 in penalty kicks and has also added a team-high four assists.
Smith has played in over 1,300 minutes in net and has a goals-against-average of 0.93. He has made 64 saves and tallied five shutouts over the 16 contests.
The winner of Saturday will be crowned the first Atlantic East men's soccer champion.
