ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 83-63 on Wednesday evening in a key Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) matchup.
Nafisa Saunders led all players with 20 points.
Kristen Denoncour added 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
Mariah Maciejewski netted 10 points and three blocks.
Over the first few minutes of the game, the teams traded baskets back and forth. The Griffins then went on a small run and built a 14-8 lead.
Minika Glenn and Denoncour hit back-to-back baskets for a 14-12 score. Gwynedd Mercy hit the last basket of the quarter, a three-pointer, to take a 23-15 advantage after the first 10 minutes.

Alex Fernandez midway through the second quarter gave the Knights the lead, 27-26. The lead was short lived and the Griffins went into halftime on a 13-2 run for a 39-29 advantage at the break.
The run to end the first half gave the Griffins the cushion they needed for the rest of game. Gwynedd Mercy continued to build up its lead to come away with the 83-62 win in the game for the No. 2 seed in the postseason.
Neumann (17-7, 12-3 CSAC) will wrap up regular season action on Saturday as it travels to Cairn. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
