Men's Lacrosse Drops Second Game in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team dropped its second consecutive game in Georgia on Sunday morning, falling by a score of 18-6 to Virginia Wesleyan College in non-conference action.

Chris Augustine was the standout star in the Neumann attack on Sunday, scoring four goals in the loss. Ryan McNichol and Adam Fagan also scored for the Knights, while Brendan Risley and Antonio Gibson combined for 19 saves in net.

Much like Saturday's tough loss versus Pfeiffer, the Knights started the game slowly and fell behind early. Virginia Wesleyan registered the only two goals of the first quarter and six of the first seven goals in the game overall to lead by a score of 6-1 at the 7:42 mark of the second stanza. The Knights would fight back late in the half though, answering back with two goals from Augustine and Fagan to head to halftime down 6-3.

Neumann continued its rally to open the third quarter as Augustine scored two of the first three goals of the period to make it 7-5 midway through the frame, but unfortunately for the Knights that was as close as they would get. The Marlins retaliated with five unanswered goals and outscored Neumann by a count of 11-1 over the final quarter and a half of play to take home the 18-6 win.

Neumann (1-2) will have the week off before returning to action next Saturday, March 3rd at Farmingdale State College. Game-time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
