Men's Tennis Faces Clarks Summit in CSAC Semifinal

4/27/2018 2:56:00 PM

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team begins its quest for a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship on Saturday, April 28th when it takes on Clarks Summit University in the conference semifinals. The match is scheduled to be played tomorrow afternoon at the Legacy Youth Tennis Center in Philadelphia.

Neumann will look to bring home its first CSAC title in men's tennis since the 2014 season. The Knights enter the playoffs as the third seed for the second consecutive season, after finishing the season with a 5-2 conference record. Clarks Summit finished one win better than the Knights at 6-1 to claim the No. 2 seed. Cabrini University went unbeaten in conference play to clinch the No. 1 seed and will take on No. 4 seed Gwynedd Mercy University in the other semifinal. The winners of the two semifinal matchups will face-off Sunday, April 29th  in the CSAC Championship.

The Knights will hope for a different result than earlier in the season when they squared off against Clarks Summit. Neumann fell by a score of 5-1 on March 27th, but the team has been playing much better of late and the contest should be very tightly contested.

Neumann has been led this season by lone first-team all-conference performer Jordan Collins. The junior went 5-1 in CSAC singles play this season to help the Knights earn the third seed in the playoffs. Rod Bradbury (second-team doubles), Christian Cortese (second-team singles), Evan King (honorable mention singles/doubles) and Billy Swontek (honorable mention doubles) have also all had fantastic seasons, while the return of sophomore Daniel Rival will provide a playoff boost for the Knights.
