ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team completed a second half comeback win, 74-69, against Immaculata University on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Nafisa Saunders netted 34 points, including going 18-for-19 from the free throw line.
Maia Bryson tallied 22 points.
The Mighty Macs held the pace of the game throughout the first half and built the lead to as many as 15, 38-13, midway through the second quarter. Immaculata took a 40-28 lead into halftime.
The Knights started to chip their way into the deficit and pulled to within three, 53-50, on two free throws by
Lauren Leicht late in the third quarter. Saunders wrapped up the quarter with two free throws for a three-point game, 57-54 Immaculata, heading into the final 10 minutes.
With 7:10 on the clock, Saunders hit a layup to put Neumann in the lead 60-59. After the teams traded baskets, Leicht hit a three-pointer for a five point lead, 70-65, with 2:15 left in regulation. The Mighty Macs hit two more shots, but Saunders went 4-for-4 from the line in the final 25 seconds to seal the win.
Neumann (11-9, 4-4 Atlantic East) will head to Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday for a conference doubleheader with the men. Action gets underway at 1:00 PM.
