IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up its first Atlantic East Conference victory with an 81-65 win at Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon.
Nafisa Saunders continues to dominate in the points column and dropped 31 points in the game. The senior added 13 rebounds for another double-double.
Mariah Maciejewski also tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards.
Maia Bryson netted 11 points.
Bryson started the game with a three-points and the Knights took off. Neumann doubled up Immaculata on the scoreboard in the first quarter 22-11. The Knights held a double-digit lead throughout the second quarter and took a 42-26 lead into halftime.
The Knights led by as many as 17 in the third quarter. The Mighty Macs battled back to within 10 late in the quarter, but Neumann still took a 57-45 lead into the final 10 minutes. Immaculata pulled to within nine, 62-53, early in the fourth quarter. The Knights then went on an 11-3 run to increase their lead to 73-56 and put the game away.
Neumann (8-6, 1-1 Atlantic East) will stay in conference play when it hosts Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday evening. Action gets underway at 6:00 PM, followed by the men at 8:00 PM.
