Women’s Basketball to Host Immaculata in Atlantic East First Round Match-up

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team will host Immaculata University on Monday evening in an Atlantic East Conference first round game.
 
The Knights wrapped up the regular season 14-11 overall and 6-6 in conference action. Neumann is the No. 4 seed heading into the postseason. Immaculata went 7-18 overall in the regular season and 4-8 in the conference to be the No. 5 seed.
 
During the regular season, the Knights won both contests. On the road, Neumann won 81-65. Nafisa Saunders dropped 31 points in the game and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double-double. Mariah Maciejewski also tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards. Maia Bryson netted 11 points.
 
Back at home, the Knights used a big third quarter en route to a 74-69 win. Saunders netted 34 points, including going 18-for-19 from the free throw line. Bryson tallied 22 points.
 
For the season, the Knights are being led by Saunders. The senior has re-written record books this season. She set the program record for career points earlier this season and is averaging 26.4 points per game, second overall in Division III.
 
Bryson leads the team with 45 three-pointers and is netting 9.3 points per game. Chelsea Keebler has notched 42 baskets from beyond the arc.
 
Maciejewski leads the team, pulling down 8.9 rebounds per game. The senior is also adding 9.6 points per game.
 
In the other first round game on Monday, No. 3 seeded Marywood will host No. 6 seeded Gwynedd Mercy. The winners from the first round games will advance to the semifinals where No. 1 Marymount and No. 2 Cabrini sit waiting.
 
The winners from the semifinal contests on Wednesday will meet for the first Atlantic East Conference women's basketball championship on Saturday, February 23 at the highest remaining seed.
