BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell at Brooklyn College 77-47 in a first round game of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament on Wednesday evening.
Nafisa Saunders and
Maia Bryson each netted 13 points to lead the Knights. Saunders notched a double-double as she added 11 rebounds.
Mariah Maciejewski also grabbed 11 boards.
The teams traded baskets for most of the first quarter. The Bulldogs held a 12-11 lead with 2:24 left in the first quarter and scored the final six points to take an 18-11 advantage.
A layup by
Jaylin Ortiz with 3:38 left before halftime pulled the Knights to within four, 24-20. Neumann was kept off the board for the rest of the quarter and Brooklyn netted 12 points to take a 36-20 lead into the break.
Brooklyn continued to build its lead throughout the final two quarters to come away with the 77-47 win.
Neumann wraps up its season 14-13 overall.
