Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season on Thursday afternoon, falling on the road at Moravian College by a score of 7-2 in non-conference action.
The Knights started strong in doubles play on the afternoon, taking wins in two of the three matches to gain an early 2-1 lead.
Daniel Rival and
Zach Dakin paired up at first doubles for an 8-6 victory, while
Evan King and
John Beck were winners at second doubles by a score of 8-5.
Unfortunately for the Knights, they could not keep their momentum moving into singles play. Rival was Neumann's lone bright spot in singles, but came up just short in a third set tie-breaker at first singles by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). The Greyhounds then won at second through sixth singles comfortably to take the 7-2 non-conference win.
Neumann (4-1) will look to get back in the win-column this Saturday, April 13
th with an Atlantic East Conference matchup with Gwynedd Mercy University. Game-time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
