Softball Picks Up Two Shutout Wins

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team swept a pair of non-conference games against Keystone College on Tuesday afternoon. The Knights won the first game in walk-off fashion 1-0. Neumann then won game two 8-0 in six innings. 
 
The first game featured just four hits, two by each team, and one run. The game came down to the bottom of the seventh. Kierstin Fallers and Jackie Schneider both walked for two runners on base with one out. Kate Korte' then stepped to the plate and singled to center field to score Fallers for the walk-off win.
 
Jen Sieminski went the distance in the circle, allowing just two hits and striking out 10 over the 7.0 innings.
 
The Knights bats came alive in the second game as they tallied 11 hits and scored eight runs. Vanessa Bowen tallied three RBI singles in the game. Bri Lagroteria, Korte' and Schneider each added two hits.
 
Neumann didn't waste any time and scored in the first inning. Grace Sperrazza led off with a walk and scored on one of Bowen's RBI singles. The Knights then plated three unearned runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Lagroteria.
 
Bowen knocked in Lagroteria in the fourth inning for a 5-0 Neumann lead. The Knights then plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.
 
Nicole Wisser got the win, going 6.0 innings. She allowed just two this and struck out nine for the shutout.
 
Neumann (15-7) will hit the road and head to Alvernia for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. Action gets underway at 3:00 PM.
