ERIE, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team fell to Pfeiffer University 5-3 in eight innings in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) semifinal on Saturday afternoon.
 
Pfeiffer opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the second inning. Neumann was kept off the board until the sixth inning. Jackie Selby led off with inning with a double. Kierstin Fallers traded spots with Selby on the bases to put the Knights on the board. Kate Korte' then singled to score Fallers and tie the game at two.
 
After neither team could score in the seventh, the game went into extra innings. The Falcons put two runners on with one out before hitting a three-run shot for a 5-2 lead.
 
The Knights were not going to go quietly in the home half. With one out, Selby tripled. She then scored on a Falcon error as Korte' reached base. Neumann put the game-tying run on base, but could not get the runner home and fell 5-3.
 
Nicole Wisser went 8.0 innings in the circle. She allowed five runs on eight hits and struck out seven.

Selby and Korte' were both named to the All-Tournament team.
 
Neumann wraps up the season 30-13 overall, hitting the 30 win mark for the first time since 2015. The Knights also won the first Atlantic East Conference softball championship.
