PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling by a score of 5-0 to Cabrini University in the Atlantic East Conference championship match.
Cabrini seized control of the match early on with three wins in doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead and never looked back from there. The third doubles team of
Evan King and
John Beck nearly got the Knights on the board, but despite leading 4-0 and 6-4 in the set, they fell by a count of 8-6.
The Cavaliers made quick work of things as the match moved to singles play. Needing just two victories to clinch the championship, Cabrini won at second and fourth singles to seal the win by a score of 5-0. With the fifth win secured, the rest of the matches were halted and remained unfinished.
Neumann finishes its season as Atlantic East Conference runners-up with a record of 8-4. The Knights will look to build on the positive momentum next season and go one step further to win a conference championship.
