RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team wrapped up the spring 2021 season at Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon. The Knights fell to the Cavaliers 58-50.
Lauren Leicht led the Knights with 11 points.
Kiara Stovall and
Terea Hunt each added eight.
Dymond Collins grabbed nine rebounds.
The first quarter remained close with five tied scores and two lead changes. The teams were knotted at 16 after the first 10 minutes.
Tied at 19 with seven minutes left in the half, the Cavaliers scored the next nine points for a 28-19 advantage. Hunt and Stovall each hit a three for the Knights, but Cabrini ended the scoring for the half with two free throws to take a 30-25 lead into the break.
Cabrini scored the first six points of the second half to extend its lead. Neumann started to chip its way back into the game and a three-pointer by Hunt with just under two minutes left in the third quarter drew the Knights to within one, 44-43. The Cavaliers took the slim 45-44 lead into the final 10 minutes.
With less than seven minutes left in regulation, and a three-point game, the Cavaliers went on a 6-0 run for a 55-46 lead. Leicht hit two free throws to break the run. Leicht hit the final basket of the game, but time ran out before the Knights could make their comeback.
Neumann finishes the spring 2021 season 3-3.
