SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Marywood University in the Atlantic East Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon.
The only goal of the game came in the 83rd minute as the Pacers crossed the ball from the sideline and put it into the back of the net.
Marywood held the pace for most of the game, outshooting Neumann 25-3 overall and 11-2 in net. Leona Macrina made 10 saves in net, keeping the Knights in the game. The sophomore made five saves in each half. The defensive line played a big part in keeping 14 Pacer shots away from the goal.
The Knights had three corner kicks early in the game and notched the first shot of the contest, coming from Chloe Britton.
In the second half, Riley Adinolfi had a chance after a corner kick to put the Knights in the lead, but the Pacers keeper had the answer.
Neumann finishes its season 8-9-4 overall and as the 2022 Atlantic East Conference Runner-Up!
