ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team came back from a two-goal deficit to tie Marymount University in the final game of the regular season on Wednesday evening.
Marymount got on the scoreboard first, scoring in the 20
th minute. Marymount took a 2-0 lead with a goal at the 43
rd minute mark as the Saints outshot the Knights 6-2 in the first half.
The Knights started their comeback in the 78
th minute when
Chimdi Ekwem had a high shot to the back of the net to cut the lead in half. As time was ticking down,
Owen Bentley pulled Neumann even at two in the 87
th minute.
Juan Lemos drew the assist on the game-tying goal.
Seth Walker and
Carson Metzger each made a save during the match. Neumann had three shots in the second half.
Neumann (7-4-3, 4-0-2) will be the top seed in the Atlantic East Conference tournament, earning a bye into the semi-finals. They will await the lowest seed remaining after the first round, hosting that match on Tuesday.
