ASTON, Pa – The Neumann University women's soccer team, the No. 4 seed in the Atlantic East postseason, shutout No. 5 seeded Centenary University 4-0 in first round action on Saturday afternoon.
The first goal came in the 27
th minute of play where
Marisa Nicolucci crossed the ball to
Anna Poehlmann who put it in the back of the net. Neumann took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Four minutes into the second half,
Dylan Brown scored off a pass from
Jordan Bard tacking onto the lead for the Neumann. The energy picked up when
Catherine Miller capitalized on a breakaway and drove home a goal for the Knights making the score 3-0.
Kaia Foss tallied the assist.
Closing in on 25 minutes left in regulation,
Chloe Britton was able to add some insurance and scored off a pass from
Kenzie Cash for a 4-0 score.
Alexis Navarro had two saves in this game, coming up big out of her box and taking on attackers as needed.
Neumann (7-5-4) will travel to No 2 seeded Marymount on Tuesday for semifinal action.
