BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to defeat Salisbury University 71-61 in the consolation game of the Steel Club Classic on Saturday at Moravian University.
Terea Tourk was named to the All-Tournament team and scored 19 in the game.
Lauren Klieber added 23 points and seven rebounds.
Emily DuPont netted 17 points and seven boards.
The Knights opened the game by scoring the first five points. Midway through the quarter, a three-pointer by Salisbury put the Seagulls on top 9-7. A layup by Tourk tied the game at nine. Salisbury held a 14-11 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Seagulls opened the second quarter with two three-pointers for a 20-11 advantage. The Knights chipped their way into the deficit and a three-pointer by Tourk tied the game at 24. Neumann then went in a 9-2 run for a 33-26 lead and took a 37-35 lead into halftime.
The Knights built an eight-point advantage, 50-42, midway through the third quarter. The Seagulls finished the quarter on a 9-2 run for a 52-51 score heading into the final 10 minutes.
Salisbury scored the first basket of the fourth quarter for a one-point lead, but a three-pointer by Klieber put the Knights back on top. The Knights built a 63-55 advantage midway through the quarter. A free-throw by Klieber in the final minute gave Neumann a double-digit lead, 67-57. The junior went 5-for-6 from the line in the final minute to seal the win for the Knights.
Neumann (10-4) will open Atlantic East Conference action on Wednesday when it heads to Gwynedd Mercy. Action gets underway at 6:00 PM.
