ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team finished Atlantic East Conference action 6-6 and will be the No. 5 seed heading into the playoffs.
The Knights finished the regular season 13-12 overall, 6-6 in conference action. Neumann will head to Immaculata, after the Mighty Macs finished 7-5 in the conference to be the No. 4 seed, on Monday for first round action.
During the regular season, Neumann took the season series from Immaculata. Back in January, the Knights defeated the Mighty Macs 56-51 on the road.
Lauren Klieber and
Terea Hunt each put together double-double performances. Kleiber had 15 points and 12 rebounds with two blocks while Hunt had 12 points and 14 boards while adding three steals.
Emily DuPont and
Jacqueline Wardrop both had solid games. DuPont tallied eight points and five rebounds while Wardrop added eight points and six boards.
Back at the Mirenda Center, Neumann picked up a 70-65 win. Klieber led four Knights in double-digits with 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Hunt tallied 14 points. DuPont also notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Wardrop added 10 points while
Lindsay Holden added nine.
For the season, the Knights are led by Klieber, who averages 22.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The sophomore has been named the Atlantic East Player of the Week four times along with being named to the weekly honor roll four times.
Hunt is averaging 8.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. DuPont adds 9.9 points per game. Jacqueline has handed out a team-high 45 assists.
In the other first round game, No. 3 Cabrini hosts No. 6 Marywood. The winners from Monday's games will advance to the semifinals against No. 1 seeded Marymount and No. 2 seeded Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday.
The winners on Wednesday will meet at the highest remaining seed on Saturday, February 25 to compete for the 2023 Atlantic East Championship.
