WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Neumann University softball team fell in a pair of contests in the Spring Games in Florida on Tuesday.
In the first game against Calvin,
Ang Sannicandro went the first 3.1 innings in the circle.
Ashlynne Scardino rounded out the final 2.2 innings.
Kristen Pagliaro and
Ashley Leicht had the hits for the Knights.
Calvin plated a run in the first, two in the third, three in the fourth and one in the sixth for the 7-0 final.
Olivia Ammon pitched a complete game in the 7-3 loss to Moravian. She allowed seven runs, just four earned. Neumann struck first in the bottom of the first.
Bri Reim walked, followed by a double by Pagliaro. Reim scored on a sacrifice fly by Leicht.
Maddie Tice then singled in Pagliaro for a 2-0 Knights lead.
The Greyhounds tied the game in the top of the second with two unearned runs. Down 7-2 in the bottom of the seventh,
Erin Grogan led off with her second single of the game.
Christina Ludovico pinch ran and scored on a single by
Emily Ammon for the 7-3 final.
Neumann (1-7) will take a break tomorrow before finishing up its games in Florida on Thursday. The Knights will face Dubuque and Houghton in the final games down south.
