ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team dropped a 5-1 decision in a single game against Eastern University on Wednesday afternoon in the home opener.
Three of Neumann's four hits came in the first inning.
Christina Ludovico led off with a single up the middle.
Kristen Pagliaro singles and Ludovico went to third. After Pagliaro stole second,
Taylor Portzline singled up the middle to score Ludovico.
The Eagles tied the game in the top of the second. Eastern then plated three runs in the top of the third on two homeruns. The Eagles added a run in the fifth for a 5-1 score.
Olivia Ammon started the game in the circle and went 4.2 innings.
Ashlynne Scardino went the final 2.1 innings.
Neumann (3-8) is off until next Thursday when it heads to Widener for a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 PM.
