ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team notched a 1-0 non-conference win over the Eastern University Eagles on Tuesday night.
In the scoreless first half, Eastern carried much of the play but Neumann had a 7-5 advantage in shots, forcing five saves by the Eagles' goalkeeper. The second half started off the same way but the Knights' would still have their chances. In the 62 minutes, after a Neumann corner kick, there was a scramble inside the six-yard box. With the ball rattling around,
Catherine Miller lifted the ball under the crossbar for her first goal of the season.
Ebony Arvelo led the Knights with five shots, all on goal. Miller and
Hannah Dang had two shots each, with one on the frame.
Alexis Navarro made a number of key plays including three saves for her season's first shutout.
Neumann will be back in action on Saturday when they trek to northern New Jersey for a non-conference clash against Ramapo College. The game is slated to begin at 3:00 PM.
