ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Penn State Abington 73-69 on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.
Lauren Klieber led the Knights with 26 points and nine rebounds.
Emily DuPont added 21 points and nine boards.
Aubrie Breisblatt finished with 13 points.
The first quarter went back and forth, and it looked like the teams were going to head into the first break tied before the Lions hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for a 20-17 edge at the break.
Penn State Abington opened the second quarter on a 12-4 run to take a 32-21lead. A three-pointer just before halftime put the Lions up 43-29 at the half.
Both teams netted 13 points in the third quarter for a 56-42 game heading into the final 10 minutes. With the score 68-51, Neumann went on an 11-0 run to pull within six, 68-62, with just over a minute remaining in regulation. The Knights hit a few key three-pointers, but the Lions answered with key free throws and held on for the 73-69 win.
Neumann (4-2) will host Widener on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 PM.
