ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team will host Marywood University in an Atlantic East Conference first round game on Monday evening.
The Knights went 5-5 in conference action and will be the No. 3 seed. The Pacers went 2-8 and are the No. 6 seed. The other first round game will be No. 4 seeded Centenary hosting No. 5 seeded Gwynedd Mercy.
Marymount earned the top seed, going 10-0 in the conference. Immaculata is the No. 2 seed. The Saints and Mighty Macs will host semifinal games on Wednesday.
Neumann defeated Marywood in both regular season meetings. At the Mirenda Center back in January, the Knights won 56-36.
Lauren Klieber led the offense with a 17-point performance, adding five rebounds.
Terea Tourk came off the bench and put up 12 points and seven boards.
Aubrie Breisblatt scored eight points and eight rebounds.
In Scranton on February 10, Neumann brought home a 59-49 win. Klieber netted 16 points and eight boards.
Emily DuPont added 13 points and eight rebounds. Breisblatt tallied nine points and Tourk added eight.
For the season, Klieber leads the Knights, averaging 19.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. The junior scored her 1,000
th career point back in December. She also leads the team in three-pointers, connecting on 47, and makes 80.8% of her free throws.
DuPont is netting 12.8 points per game. Tourk is averaging 7.8 and Breissblatt 7.7 points per game.
Aston on Monday gets underway at 6:00 PM. The winners from Monday's first round action will travel to the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds on Wednesday evening for the semifinal contests. The winners on Wednesday will meet for the 2024 Atlantic East Championship on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
