SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Tennis team defeated Marywood University in an Atlantic East Conference match-up in dominant fashion, 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights got off to a flying start with great performances during the doubles portion of the event.
Daniel Bonowski and
Jason Petrin won first doubles, 8-1.
Vince Landis and
Joe Troilo took the second doubles match in a close 8-6 match, while
Logan Gorbitz and
Tony Andrews dominated third doubles, 8-1.
All six singles matches were straight set victories for Neumann with Bonowski winning first singles, 6-2 and 6-1, to start things off. Petrin won second singles in near perfect fashion, 6-0 and 6-1. Landis won third singles with by a 6-4, 6-1 mark while Troilo took out his fourth singles opponent 6-1, 6-1. Rounding out the day,
Anthony Carpinella had a 6-3, 6-2 win in fifth singles, and
James Leuzzi had little trouble in sixth singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Neumann(6-3, 1-0) will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Immaculata in another Atlantic East Conference match-up. The action starts at 3:30 PM.
