CAMDEN, N.J. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team was dealt a 1-0 decision at the hands of Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference match on Friday night.
The opening 45 minutes were evenly contested as both teams' defensive units shined. The Scarlet Raptors were held to two shot attempts with one on goal while Neumann attempted one shot. Rutgers-Camden led the corner kick battle 2-1 at the break.
Rutgers-Camden asserted themselves to start the second half as they put together several scoring opportunities. They broke through in the 69
th minute on a header off a corner kick for the game's lone marker. The Knights fought back with some pressure in the late going but could not find the equalizer.
Jake Kuzmick led the Neumann attack with three shots and one on goal.
Alex Duopu and
Alex Pobre had the other two shots fired towards goal, with Pobre's forcing a save.
Carson Metzger made three saves in goal.
Neumann (0-1) will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they open the home portion of their schedule against Arcadia University. Kick-off from the Turf Field is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
