CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team took on their cross-county rivals, suffering at 3-1 loss at Widener University on Saturday afternoon.
It was a quick start for the Pride as they scored two goals in the first minute of play. One goal came just 14 seconds in and the other was 19 seconds later. The Knights settled down from there and held Widener scoreless for the rest of the half. In the 63
rd minute,
Morghan Stiles grabbed a loose ball after a corner kick and bounced off the far post and in for her first of the season, cutting the deficit in half. 11 minutes later, in the 74
th minute, the Pride regained the two-goal lead and sealed the game.
Stiles led the Neumann attack with two shots, both on goal.
Anna Poehlmann and
Jaclyn Burmood each attempted a shot, with both testing the goalkeeper.
Kiki Soto brushed off the early goals to finish with four saves.
Neumann(4-2) will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Goucher College in another non-conference match-up. Opening kick from Neumann's Turf Field will be at 4:00 PM.
