New York, N.Y. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team exploded to a big win on Saturday, defeating Pratt Institute by a final score of 9-0 in an Atlantic East Conference matchup.
Jordan Illian had a monster performance with four goals and two assists on 11 shots, eight on goal.
Luke Mejia added two goals and an assist on four shots, three on goal.
AJ Henry only needed two saves for his fourth consecutive shutout, and fifth of the season.
It took until the 14
th minute for the offense to show results, but once they did, it didn't stop.
Markus Beugre got it started with a rebound goal after
Hunter Rolles lifted a ball into the box. 47 seconds later, Mejia crossed a ball to the six yard box and Illian heading it in for the two goal lead. 54 seconds after that, Illian rocketed a shot from just inside the 18 yard box for a 3-0 lead. In the 28
th minute, Illian lifted a pass to the far side post and Mejia bounced it in for the four goal lead. Finally, it was
Riley Senisi who found a loose ball for his second of the year, capping a big first 45 minutes.
The onslaught continued in the second half, starting at the 56
th minute with Illian notching the hat-trick goal. Less than two minutes later, L. Mejia picked up his third goal of the season with Illian notching his eighth goal of the season in the 61
st.
Conor McCarthy closed out the evening with his first collegiate goal in the 89th minute.
Neumann (7-2-3) picks up their fifth straight win and are undefeated in their last nine. They'll take their hot play down to Newark, Del. on Tuesday night as they'll challenge division I foe, the University of Delaware. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
