NORTON, Mass. -The Neumann University Men's Soccer team dropped a 3-0 NCAA First Round match-up against Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights carried a good portion of the play in the early going, but in the 12
th minute, Neumann was dealt a tough break as Wheaton was awarded a penalty kick. They were able to convert for the 1-0 lead. The Knights continued to battle as they outshot the Lyons by an 8-6 margin, 4-3 on goal, in the first half. In the second half, Wheaton stepped up, looking for an insurance goal. In the 67
th minute, a Neumann clear deflected off a Wheaton forward and trickled into the net for the two-goal edge. They would add one more goal in the 71
st to close the match.
Darwin Berger led the Knights offense with three shots, two on goal.
Jordan Illian and
Victor John had two shots and one on goal each.
AJ Henry made five saves in goal.
Neumann ends the season with a record 13-4-3 and a third consecutive Atlantic East Conference title.
