ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team will start their march to a three-peat as they host No. 5 seeded Gwynedd Mercy University in the semifinals of the Atlantic East Conference tournament on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM.
Neumann had a historic conference season, finishing with a perfect record of 7-0, earning the top seed. Overall, they finished 11-3-3.
Jordan Illian led the Knights with 12 goals and four assists.
Luke Mejia added a conference-high six assists to his four goals this season with
Zion Atta-Krah and
Markus Beugre also grabbing four goals each.
AJ Henry was the key goalkeeper throughout most of the regular season, playing in 15 matches, starting 14. He was 10-1-3 with a conference best six shutouts and a save percentage of .679. His 1.29 goals against average was also tops in the Atlantic East.
As a team, they led the circuit in several categories including goals with 44 and corner kicks with 120. The Knights had the most corner kicks by 32.
In the other semi-final, No. 3 seeded Marymount will travel No. 2 seeded Marywood. The winners will meet in the Atlantic East Conference Championship game on Saturday. The winner will take home the conference title and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
