ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University women's soccer team fell 4-0 at Marymount University on Tuesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference semifinal contest.
The first half saw the Knights maintaining a solid defensive effort against the Saints, with
Shannon Duffy recording multiple key saves to keep the game scoreless.
Ebony Arvelo had a free kick in the 36
th minute that went on net, but Marymount's keeper made the save.
Marymount struck quickly in the second half and took the lead in the 47th minute. Duffy managed a crucial save in the 50th minute. Marymount extended its lead with a goal in the 61st minute, making it 2-0. Despite attempts on goal by
Julianna Hatt and
Liz Purcell, Neumann was unable to find the back of the net.
In the closing stages, the Saints scored again in the 86th minute, followed by a penalty kick for the 4-0 final.
Duffy recorded six saves in the game.
Lex Navarro added one save as she finished out the game in net. Hatt contributed three shots while
Catherine Miller added two.
Neumann finishes the season 6-11-2 overall and 4-3 in conference action.
