ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team have qualified for the Atlantic East Conference postseason tournament and will face Marymount University in the semifinals on Wednesday night.
The Knights are the third seed after finishing the conference schedule with a 6-4 record. Overall, they were 15-9. Marymount also finished with a 6-4 conference record, but they own the tie-breaker to place them as the second seed. Immaculata is the regular season champion and top seed thanks to a perfect 10-0 record. Before the semifinals, No.5 Marywood, who finished with a 3-7 record, and No. 4 Centenary, who had a 4-6 record, met in the first round on Monday night with the Pacers advancing on the strength of a 77-73 win.
The Knights and Saints split their two conference meetings with each team winning on the other's home court. On January 22
nd, at the Mirenda Center, Marymount grabbed a 57-52 win.
Emily DuPont led with 22 points with
Jacqueline Wardrop adding 14. In the match up in Arlington, on February 18
th, it was Neumann who grabbed a 49-46 win. DuPont led with 20 points and
Lindsay Holden dropped 10.
On the season, the Knights are led by DuPont who averages 18.4 points per game along with 6.5 rebounds per game. She has been a dual threat all season, leading her squad with 66 steals and 41 blocks.
Aubrie Breisblatt is averaging 11.5 points per game while Wardrop is the team's top feeder with 78 assists.
The game at the Converse Family Fieldhouse in Virginia is scheduled for an 8:00 PM start. The winners from Wednesday's semifinal action will clash in the Atlantic East Conference Championship game on Saturday, at the home of the highest remaining seed.
