WBB AEC Finals Preview

Women’s Basketball to Contend for Atlantic East Crown

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team will take the short trip to Immaculata for a big opportunity in the Atlantic East Conference championship game on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM.
 
The third seeded Knights finished the regular season with a 6-4 conference record. In the semifinals, they went down to Virginia and eliminated No. 2 Marymount University by a final score of 60-57. Emily DuPont led the Knights with 26 points and nine rebounds. Jacqueline Wardrop was also a key contributor with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, notching the double-double. Immaculata won their semi-final over No. 5 Marywood by a final score of 69-48.
 
The Mighty Macs won both regular season meetings, starting with a 77-67 game in the Mirenda Center on January 8th. DuPont led with 19 points and four blocks. Aubrie Breisblatt picked up 17 points while both Jenna Aponik and Taylor Hehnly both had double-digit points with 11 and 10, respectively. On February 5th, at Immaculata, it was a 63-44 result. Lindsay Holden pushed the Knights' effort with 14 points. DuPont was a rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.
 
Overall, this season, Neumann is led by 12-time Atlantic East honoree DuPont averaging 16.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. She also leads in steals with 68, and leads the conference in blocks with 41. Breisblatt has averaged 11.3 points per game while Wardrop leads in assists with 83.
 
The winner will not only earn the title of Atlantic East Conference Champion, but they will also pick up an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championship tournament.
