IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Basketball team dropped a 63-46 decision against Immaculata University in the Atlantic East Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon.
Jacqueline Wardrop led the Neumann effort with 13 points.
Aubrie Breisblatt followed with nine points while
Emily DuPont and
Jenna Aponik had eight points each. DuPont had a big defensive game with 13 rebounds and five blocks while
Lindsay Holden had four steals.
Neumann got off to a good start on the road as they held a 6-4 lead after 4:34 of play. Immaculata was able to respond by scoring the last 11 points of the quarter for a 15-6 lead after 10 minutes. The Mighty Macs also scored the first four points of the second, but Neumann went on a 13-5 run over the next three minutes to get back within five at 24-19. Immaculata went off for six points in a row, but Neumann went on a 6-2 run to close the half down 32-25.
Immaculata pulled away in the third thanks to a 10-4 run over the first 6:18 of the period. Both teams traded buckets throughout the rest of the quarter and the Knights were behind 48-36. Neumann picked up the first four points of the fourth, but Immaculata went off for seven points in a row, extending the lead to 15 with 5:28 left, and Neumann could not forge a comeback.
Neumann ends their hard-fought 2024-2025 season with a 16-10 record, advancing to the Atlantic East Conference Championship game for the second straight season.
